While staying in Xian we decided to climb Huashan mountain ourselves, rather than a tour. We got the train from Xian north train station which cost us 20CNY per person for a return to Huashan. The train takes about 1 hour 30 mins and once you arrive at Huashan you have to take a short taxi ride to the Mountain... More

Mount Huashan, one of the five sacred mountains in China, is known as 'The Number One Precipitous Mountain under Heaven'. You have to climb lots of steep stone steps carved into the mountain with only linked chain for support. We rented a private car, left the hotel 7:30am and come back 7:00pm. The climb is not so hard if you... More

This was the best thing we did in Xian. We hired a driver and a small van (which cost about $100 for the 5 of us) to get us to the shuttle bus station at the base of Mt. Huashan from our hotel in Xian. We could have gone faster by train, but this just seemed simpler. We took the... More

This is a fantastic place to visit. Not so many westerners come here, but more Chinese tourists do. Lines can be long at the Cable Car Station. During weekends and especially during the May holiday, the waiting time can be several hours. You buy your entrance ticket down in the town, and in the next window you buy your ticket... More

My Family and I went to Huashan during the Chinese tomb-sweeping festival and there were almost no people! It was excellent! We love mountains - and this mountain has scenic views you won't easily find. Fantastic! My wife and I as well as our kids 8y, 6y and 6y, and my parents 70y+ enjoyed the trip. ** SAFETY ** Know... Hua Shan is one of the 5 sacred taoist mountains in China. the mountain itself has 5 peaks and is riddled with temples and shrines. it is highle atmospheric with the smell of incense burning and the monks walking around. the only problem is that quite often, half of china is there too. it is best to climb at night,... This was one of the most amazing things I have ever done. We went in December, so it was very cold on the mountain, to the point where a water bottle froze in our backpack. This was nice, however, as there were not very many people on the mountain. We were able to walk directly onto the cable car, and... More

My girlfriend and I visited Mt. Huashan for 2 days on 11/24-11/25 and had a great time. Amazing views, wild trails built into the granite walls, cool temples, nice people, scary bathrooms. We took the bus from Xian (picked up a bus around 7AM in a lot just east of the train station entrance - they have "Huashan" signs outside... More

My daughter and I visited Xian in Oct and spent part of the day at Mt. Hua Shan. What a great experience, there is a high speed train, but we opted to have our guide Jane, arrange for a driver. This was an excellent idea, he picked us up at the hotel and it gave us a chance to relax... More

The hiking trail is amazing. First off the entire mountain is fantastic and interesting. Nothing like in America. Definately worth the trip. The "dangerous" hiking trail is amazing, what an adreanaline rush. This is a must do for any adventurer!! The ladder is the scariest part, not the planks on the side of the mountain. I had a cup of... More
