One of the few remaining independent distilleries, Penderyn takes its name from the old Welsh village in which it is located and nestles in the foothills of the ancient Brecon Beacons mountain range. The Brecon Beacons National Park is an area of outstanding natural beauty famed for its breathtaking scenery, open moorland, clear rivers and tumultuous waterfalls.Members of the public can enjoy a distillery tour, take a journey through the history of single malt whisky making in Wales, and understand the distilling and bottling process at first hand.On arrival you will be greeted by your tour guide and taken through to the exhibition area where you can:• Browse at your leisure and learn for yourself the history of whisky making in Wales as well as more general Welsh history.• Watch the short video about how Penderyn first started, and how it has developed since its launch in 2004.• See our superb display of old whisky jugs.Your guide will then join you and take you through to the next section where you will be able to:• View the still at Penderyn Distillery that was designed by Dr. David Faraday, a descendant of famous physicist Sir Michael Faraday. If distillation is in process you will be able to see the spirit being drawn into the spirit safe.• View of the whisky bottling line and bottling process• See the barrel display area when your guide will describe how the different expressions of Penderyn whisky are matured and talk you through the various stages of the maturation process• Learn about our other products - Merlyn Cream Liqueur, Brecon Five Vodka and Brecon Special Reserve Gin. Feel and smell the botanicals that are used to make Brecon Special Reserve Gin• Visit our tasting room and sample our products - Penderyn Single Malt Whisky, Brecon Five Vodka, Brecon Gin and Merlyn Cream Liqueur.• Browse our retail shop for Penderyn Spirits and merchandise. « less

After drinking Penderyn on holiday, we decided to make a detour to see the distillery. It was well worth it! A great little tour, followed by tasting. The visitor centre is modern and gives a great view of the still. It was a great introduction into the making of whisky (and their other products). Very tempted to get a team... More

Lovely little operation in a nice part of Wales. Been promising a trip for some time but as with many attractions close to home, have never made it - until recently that is. Good size group Europeans and Brits and a very entertaining tour. topped off by a generous tasting of the range of whiskies. Plus a very good idea... More

But as my wife and I browsed, we got chatting with Alan, who quickly ushered us into the bar for an impromptu tasting class. It' s great to find people with a passion for their subject and I added to my knowledge and my whiskey collection :) I'll try the tour next time.

If you're travelling along the A4059 through Penderyn either coming from or going to Mid-Wales do not miss the opportunity of visiting this wonderful attraction. Very informative tour culminates in a tasting session which will excite anyone's taste buds. If you haven't already done so, you must sample the delights of Penderyn whisky.

Attended the masterclass with my father and father in law on Sunday May 5th. It was an excellent, well presented class. We were lucky to have a good crowd of people as part of the class and Jeff the presenter was excellent and certainly knew his stuff. The package includes tasting plus a 'party bag' at the end (no balloons... More

if you go i would recommend coming via Brecon, the scenery is simply stunning, the distillery itself a fantastic find, did the guided tour which ,although quite short, was very imformative, the tastings are more like full measures so make sure all whisky lovers let someone else drive!!!!,, that said you do get the option of taking home a minaiture instead..

The hour long visit was very informative and our guide (Dave) was very talkative and knowledgeable . The admission fee include the option to taste 2 whiskeys or take home a miniature so it's good value for money.

Penderyn distillery is the only one in Wales and is well worth a visit if you enjoy a tipple of Whiskey. The tour of the distillery takes about 30 mins and comprises of an exhibition centre followed by a guided tour through the distillery and then a choice of tastings. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and the talk itself very... More

We were looking for something to do inside during a bitterly cold snowy day. Thought it was worth a look, the tour was given by a knowledgable guide who made it very interesting . We got in for senior rates so we thought it was good value as we got 2 tokens for 2 tasters each or you could use... More
