People, bright lights, shopping, food, more people! All of these in abundance. Easy access via the station and so much to see and do. You don't even have to spend a cent, just walk around, look and absorb! Go there! Enjoy it!

For shopping and eating, it is the right place. You'll find all what you need here. No need a long walk. The location is the Shinjuku station around.
Bar’s, Club’s and restaurants don’t close till 8am in most places. Tons of shopping. Everyone I came in contact with was nice and friendly. To me Shinjuku is just a very entertaining city. Great fun for young people mostly.
I used to come here for drinking and partying when I was in 20s. Still some of that elements left. Each seats some like 6 to 10 people usually. 2 to 3 joints have 1 or 2 customers or none, I asked the regulars. They say those are run by Chinese and price is unclear and sometime being ripped off...

We came to Tokyo for a short break and was staying at the Keio Plaza Hotel. Lots of shops and restaurants nearby and we didn't need to go anywhere else!
heaps of restaurants, shopping and hotels, good base to venture off from ... not so far from the trendy Harjuku and Shibuya areas .. close to the beautiful Shinjuku gardens .. direct access to/from Narita airports through Narita express
There's so many fabulous restaurants in this area and the golden Gai alleyways are a short walk away. It's a great location as its so near the station and its a safe area at night. Would definitely stay here again when I return to Tokyo
This is a must see urban hub of lights, food, bars, shops, gardens, temples, homes, businesses - you name it Shinjuku has it. Place the BIG transport hub for rail and bus. Wander the backstreets, get away fromt the shops and see the homes and small bars tucked away in the quieter streets. Then find a shrine with it's beautiful...

Shinjuku was great for eating, shopping, drinking, people watching and pretty much everything Tokyo is about.
I've lost count of the number of department stores (depato) and shopping complexes in this area and if you're traveling with a female companion, remember to bring a few credit cards because Shinjuku like nearby Shibuya and Harajuku is a shoppers paradise.
