This was a fabulous experience, very little English spoken but this was not a problem, we were guided through the experience and other guests supported.

This is an experience that was built by the romans using the natural heated water and caves. We had Turkish Bath experience of sauna, hot / cold walking pools, thermal mud, bath (carved within a cave with stone pillow) and then relaxing in beautiful surroundings. My other half had a massage (anti stress) he said it was amazing.

If travelling by taxi boat from sant Angelo ask to be dropped at hotel Regina del Mare and it’s straight up the side of hotel. If dropped at Maronti beach then head left from the sea.

Take a towel, flip flops, water and food/snacks as the experience if adding a massage could be a few hours, there’s no restriction on how long you can stay. Enjoy 😍

Once you find it, it's truly worth it
We walked the google maps route - down a long steep road from the top of Via Andrea Mattera, very steep but somehow saw cars driving up! Took a while but we got there!

But recommend just walking up from Sant Angelo, there is a road taking you past hotels/villas and then down a dirt road that leads straight there, just look out for signs for Cavascura

And then book a mud bath, incredible experience overall!

A nice authentic experience of ancient bathing. Lovely location next to the most popular Ischian beach, friendly staff and of course, authentic Roman bath sculpted in rock next to the termal spring.

The reviews underestimate the difficulty of finding and getting to this place. it is not for the unfit, timid, body conscious, or clean obsessed. That said, it is an authentic and unique experience; highly recommended. I enjoyed the hot mud followed by bath and steam cave. Unlike Caesar however no one peeled grapes for me. Very reasonably priced.

It is impossibile for me to understand how and the organization that cures and maintains these historicly important Roman baths hasn't lost their licence from the local council. Arriving along the 300 or so meters of foot path leading up to
the baths is shamefully littered with plastic bottles, trash and decaying objects.

Upon entering the dilapidated strutture that surrounds the tiny area of the baths one has the sense ( at least we did ) as a sort of old pawn shop selling scarsce merchandice. Old beaten up lawnchairs, overall decay of both the grounds and the baths. A very sad place, having lost it's spirit in commercialismo/ capitalismo.

Such a shame..The ancient forefathers had seen a gem...Now the gem is lost amongst squallow.

It's too expensive 30 € for 1 bath in a bath tub in stone and for painting with fango. The personal is from Marocco only male and they are doing the body painting of fango. They don’t speak English and the owner are very unfriendly and not helpful. It's not to recommended.

Accessible from Maronti Beach, it is a 15 minute walk from either Maronti or Sant Angelo. There is a small sign post where to leave the beach and head inland. Another 10 minute walk uphill eventually gets you to the old spa. Plenty of options and treatments available, but you need to go for the all over mud treatment, natural sauna and thermal bath. E30. A great experience - treatment takes about 90 mins.

This roman spa/bath/sauna is hard to get to but worth the trip if you want an authentic experience.
You need to walk a fair distance on the beach then up a ravine and it's not well signposted. But when you get there, you get the impression this place has not changed much for 2000 years. The natural sauna is a cave in the mountain that uses only natural heat from the rock. I would recommend the full body mud treatment that includes being covered head to foot then baking hard in the sun before being showered and then relaxing in a stone bath. It's a great and very real experience. But expect absolutely no frills...it's basic surroundings. Changing is communal so don't expect much privacy. This is also quite a small facility so get there early. Finally, make sure you have cash....since the spa is in a ravine there is no internet connection or wifi here so you can't pay by card but the guide books imply that you can...we found this out to our peril and had to walk 40 mins round trip to the nearest ATM. Enjoy!

Although originally discovered by Ancient Greece colonizers 2,500 years ago, it was not until the Roman Empire that the many benefits of the Cavascura hot springs were developed into bathing, natural cave sauna and mineral shower facilities for the swinging elite of Rome. Very basic but totally authentic baths, definitely not glamorous. My wife and I enjoyed the hot mud bath treatment where you strip down and lie in hot mud then wrapped in a sheet to enhance the therapeutic seeping of the mud's minerals deep into your joints and bones. So soothing that we were lulled into blissful serenity. 30 Euro each for 3 hours in this simple, pleasurable paradise.

You get here by walking about 5-7min from the Maronti Beach (between Barano and Sant'Angelo), quite easy to find and there is some signage though not very obvious. The place is not glamorous. You can pay a few Euros for just entering the place but will not be able to use the terme, so I suggest you pay whatever the treatment costs (around 20E) to get access to the other showers. You can get a body mud mask followed by thermal water shower which is very nice and really leaves your skin silky (don't wipe it with the towel). No glamour, very simple, but worth it.
