This museum is actually part of Hikone Castle, although you can pay to access it separately the best value is in a combined entry ticket (1,000 yen for adults). Lots of really interesting artifacts from the Edo period, a good English language leaflet and plenty of English labeling throuout.

Hikone Castle Museum should not be missed due to the large collection of national treasures within.
Part of the museum is a reconstruction of the castle's Omote Goten (Front Hall) which is very easy to miss for non Japanese. This is the section between galeries 4 and 5. Between these two galleries, one comes to a "T" shaped hallway. The...
