We had an awesome day on this tour. We were blessed with fine weather and no wind - John our guide certainly knew the history and area very well. Highly recommend you take an extra day in this area for this trip. The only 'little' complaint we have is we ordered their lunch and as one of us has a... More

Had an excellent 4 hour trip with Farewell Spit Nature Experience - entertaining and informative driver/guide, and though I have been before, it was still an awesome experience. The weather was not great, but the fact that the wind was blowing made the dunes all the more magical. You can get a taste of the spit on your own on... More

This 6 hour trip to the lighthouse is amazing. The views are great, the busses are fun and the guides are full of facts about the local area. We booked our tour at The Station House Motel and recieved a discount on accommodation. Running down the massive sand dune was wicked fun!!! More

I went there primary for taking photos. I don't really care about history and dolphins. So we didn't really stop for photos, but spent almost an hour sitting and listening about whales. So I wish I spent that time for exploring the place instead of boring lectures. More

We thought the trip was good and the running commentary on environment, geology, natural history well sourced and interesting. What detracted from the enjoyable aspect of the trip was the extremely personal and unprofessional commentary about how he does not like foreigners owning property in NZ. This was not very bright, considering that most of the customers were foreign! He... More

I recently went on the six hour Farewell Spit Nature Experience Tour, and as a result THOROUGHLY recommend people see it. We all gained a fresh appreciation of the beauty, complexities and vulnerability of Farewell Spit's unique ecosystem, together with a hands-on learning encounter I will not forget. Before we started I was expecting to be fading in and out... More

On 9Th November 09, early into our 6 week stay on South Island, we took a 4x4, 4hr nature tour on Farewell Spit with Chris Pomery ,who was our driver and guide. Chris had an incredible dept of knowledge, which he was very happy to share, in an informative and jovial manner. Such was his passion and understanding of the... More

Bus driver had a lot of knowledge but put it in a boring lecturing manner. I realise there are serious issues to discuss about the environment but he went on and on and on.... At the lighthouse we were made to sit in a circle and listen to him some more, instead of being able to read/look at information on... More
