Where to start, at my arrival… I had booked through Booking.com, paid on arrival and was told to get an invoice I had to get it from Booking.com….. which was nonsense.. caused me no end of hassle, but received it 2 days later from where?… Isle of Mull hotel….
So I arrived at my room, TV not working, upon investigation found the comms cable disconnected… next to the bar for my meal… took 20-30 minutes for fish and chips, which was delivered by a gentleman in a suit with no tie on, look liked a fellow guest, not like other staff who were in uniform…meal was fine… tried again at reception for an invoice before heading to bed, same story, referred me to booking.com…sleep was fine… had a shower in the morning.. disaster stuck, water turned to a drip half way through… had to finish off filling a glass with water, al spare you the details…
Breakfast… no staff around, seated myself and had cereal and OJ from the buffet…. Then a waiter arrived, walks right passed me and gushes over a female guest “good morning how are you today “.. takes her order then walks passed me, I had to ask him if I could order… “certainly sir” order placed…out comes the female order , mines arrived 10 minutes later minus the toast I had asked for… then I was the invisible man trying to attract his attention for my toast….Breakfast food was great….tried again at reception for an invoice as I handed in my key for room 57.. same story referred to booking.com…Left hoping my day was less stressful than my stay….

We have just returned from 2 nights in the hotel on our first visit to Mull.
The hotel was first class. Rooms spotless and very comfy bed.
The staff were so helpful and polite and would do anything to help. However, the priced in the hotel were ridiculour.
We didnt eat in the restaurant as it was too expensive. We decided to have bar meals instes. £8 for a bowl of soup and £9 for a medium glass of wine. You can buy it in the shops for £6 a bottle.
There wasnt any bars or restaurant nearby so i suppose they had a captive audience and you didnt have any other options.
Didnt impress us either that we were overcharged twice, as if they werent getting enough.

The experience was excellent but we found that the window frame had a big hole in the bottom left-hand corner, letting the cold air into the room and that was the only experience letting the trip down for us.

Review of Pennygate Lodge

We had a wonderful couple of days on the Isle of Mull, made all the better for staying at the sensational Pennygate Lodge. Fiona and Tony were outstanding hosts, and provided us with magnification hospitality. A clean, tidy and comfy suite with a large warm bed and soft dreamy pillows. Very tasty warm breakfast, and lovely informative chats about what and where to explore on the island.
I can highly recommend the Pennygate Lodge....

The warmest of welcomes and the most amazing views from our lovely large immaculately clean room. We had the most wonderful stay at this lovely hotel which is about 10 mins from the ferry terminal at Craignure. Breakfast was adequate but we enjoyed a delicious supper in the restaurant - it was my partner’s birthday and we were treated to a bottle of wine to celebrate.

There’s a superb deck overlooking the hotel gardens and sea beyond, and you can see the Calmac ferry as it journeys to and from Oban every day. We even saw the ‘resident’ stag who made an appearance early one morning which was absolutely thrilling.

A truly memorable stay for our first holiday together - this will
always remain a very special place in our hearts. Thank you 🙏
This is such a great spot to be located and we travelled out and about every day with a wonderful day on the Isle of Iona.

What an incredible day! Absolutely Amazing! Pete is the kindess, most genuine, thoughtful guy we've ever met! He was not only knowledgeable about the island and the local wildlife, we got some amazing stories about life. It was so nice to be in his company for the day. Such a great guy! We saw
5 golden eagles
Stags
Deer
All sorts of Birds, including oyster catchers.
Seals both types
Sheep
Highland coos
Chickens
The views were amazing.
Weather incredible, we're sure Pete arranged this too. 😀
Pete prepared us lunch, coffee and tea and delicious biscuits. My boyfriend said petes home made chutney was the best hes ever tasted! Petes car was clean and comfortable. Plenty of stops if you need toilet. We borrowed Petes binoculars. The whole day couldn't have been better. What a trip! Highly recommend if your travelling to Mull! Thank you Pete. Can't wait to see you again. From Charlene and John ❤️

From the moment of our arrival the staff made our stay very relaxing. Nothing was too much trouble and overall level of service was excellent. The hotel is ideally located near the ferry and the views from the rooms and the dining areas was superb. Possibly because we were there at ‘low season’ the dinner menu was a little restricted but the quality was excellent particularly the fish.

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel and the hotel seems to have had a huge refurbishment since we last stayed. We had a jacuzzi suite with was luxurious. The huge bed was soooo comfortable and had my first good.might sleep in a week. The jacuzzi was bliss lying in it on a moonlit night overlooking the bay. We ate at the restaurant and food was good. We would highly recommend this hotel

Just had a wonderful weekend stay at the Isle of Mull Hotel. The foyer entrance with its stunning views was quite spectacular upon arrival. The staff were very polite, efficient and service was excellent whether it was bar service, breakfast or evening meal. The room was modern, super clean and spacious. This was our first visit and it won’t be our last as we had a wonderful stay. Thank you to all.

We visited the Isle of Mull in February and wasn’t sure what to expect. I thought more would be open that’s for sure but thankful for the amazing team at Isle of Mull Hotel! Their property was outstanding and the food & beverages were excellent! I now appreciate a lot of places close for the winter but fortunately Isle of Mull hotel doesn’t so we could stay on this beautiful stretch of Scotland!
